Our association, Association of External Auditors, is a certified audit professionals’ association established in 2011 by 40 practicing professionals who are owner of audit firms. The association is registered and certified by the then proclamation number 621/2009 Charities and Civil Societies Agency. Because of the proclamation amendments, the association then re-registered and certified by Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Authority, certificate No. 2393, since 2019. Currently, the association has 125 practicing members who all are participating on statutory audit services in the country based on the international audit standard.
The association is an independent organization from any governmental and non-governmental organizations. It has its own administrative organizational structure. The association upper body is the general assembly which is composed of all the members, next to the general assembly, there are board members who are elected by the General Assembly. The board then appoints manager of the association to run the day to day activities of it. The manager is responsible for the day to day activities and staff management under his supervision. There is an independent auditor being appointed by the General Assembly to report its annual financial performance and activities.
The Association has responsibility to report its annual activity, audited financial activities of the year, approve its budget by the general assembly and run its activities as per its bylaws and other charity and society laws in the country.

A comprehensive training session on the Amended Income Tax Proclamation No. 1395/2017 was held on November 26, 2025, bringing together audit practitioners and regulatory bodies from the Ministry of Revenue and the Ministry of Finance.

December 4, 2024, Nexus Hotel On December 4, 2024, the Association of External Auditors organized a successful half-day workshop for its members' audit professionals at Nexus Hotel, focusing on the newly drafted regulations for accountancy and audit professionals' licensing and professional associations' accreditation. The event brought together audit professionals eager to gain insights into the regulatory changes and their potential impact on the industry.
On October 22, 2024, Our association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Revenue, held a productive pre-discussion at the Minister's Conference Hall of the Ministry of Revenue, where key stakeholders came together to formulate the agenda for upcoming panel discussions.
